Bid Invitations

The Village of Morton is seeking bids for water softening salt, as follows:

Water Softening Salt:  Quotation shall cover a period of one year, beginning
November 1, 2016, and shall be based upon a projected consumption of 1800
to 2200 tons annually.

Please provide two bids:  One where the salt is picked up by our truck at your
terminal nearest to the Village of Morton, and one where the salt is delivered
directly to the Village of Morton.

Bids will be received in the office of the Director of Public Works, 120 N. Main St., Morton, IL  61550, until 10:00 A.M. (CDT), on Wednesday, September 28, 2016, at which time they will be opened.

If there are any questions, please feel free to contact Bob Burton, Water Treatment Superintendent, at (309) 266-5361.

Please furnish a quotation for water softening salt that is certified NSF, and is either transported in a dedicated container, or the container shall be washed prior to loading salt for potable water treatment, and evidence of clean-out, such as wash tickets, and specify FOB.  Packet should be labeled “Sealed Bid”.

The Buyer reserves the right to terminate any contract, either verbal or written, at any time, should the contracted product be considered inferior in quality.  Should the salt supply at the nearest terminal ever be depleted, the Seller agrees to furnish salt to the Buyer at the price quoted, and to absorb any charges incurred by the Buyer in additional freight fees.

The Village of Morton pays bills on the third Monday of each month, provided that the invoice has been received and approved one week prior.

The Village reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to waive any informalities and irregularities in the bidding.
